Rotary Sews in the News!!
Many of the Tibetan, Cambodian & other 'students' at our Rotary Sews weekly sewing & knitting class (mondays 1 - 3pm at the Freemasons Hall, 34B St. Edmonds Road Prahran) can sew but they have never used an electric sewing machine before. Thanks to generous donations to Donations In Kind (Rotary) warehouse in Footscray, we have a supply of sewing machines & fabrics so our Rotary volunteers can teach the class how electric machines work and they can opt to make clothes for their family, soft furnishings for their homes or items to sell at markets to supplement their incomes.
As well as sewing skills, having a conversation in English helps recent arrivals' confidence and English skills, so even if you're not a sewer, join us to help & just have a chat, new volunteers welcome! Contact Us for details.
Thank you Freemasons Victoria, whose generous provision of their hall each week enables us to offer these classes free of charge!
