From: Monday August 20, 2018, 6:45 pm
To: Monday August 20, 2018, 8:00 pm
Nathan Chisholm will take up the reins of Prahran High School from the start of Term 2, 2018. He joins the school from Buckley Park College where he was the Principal for the past five years and has more than 20 years’ experience as a teacher.
Opening in 2019, Prahran High School will be among Victoria’s first government vertical schools, and will cater for 650 students.
It will feature an open atrium at the centre of the building, teaching areas, a main performance space and outdoor terraces on every level.
The ground floor will contain a library, music and drama facilities, while levels 1, 2 and 3 will house the science, visual arts and food technology spaces along with a gymnasium. There will also be a rooftop garden on level 4, and general classrooms, ICT and break out areas will be incorporated throughout the new building.
The school is being built next to an existing educational precinct that includes Melbourne Polytechnic and the National Institute of Circus Arts.
Over the next nine months Mr Chisholm will build a vision for Prahran High School and establish a culture that embodies the vision and values, appoint staff, establish relationships with the Prahran community and work closely with the architects and builders to provide the right environment for students to achieve their best.
